May light flourish, may harmony flourish, may it flourish

May light flourish, may harmony flourish, may it flourish

The truth, without falsehood, is certain and most true.
That which is below is like that which is above, and that which is above is like that which is below, to bring about the miracles of the One.
And since all things are and come from the One, through the mediation of the One, so all things are born of this One through adaptation.
The Sun is its father, the Moon its mother; the Wind has carried it in its womb; the Earth is its nurse. The father of all things, the end of the whole world, is here.
Its strength or power is complete when it is transformed into earth. You shall separate the Earth from the Fire, the subtle from the dense, gently and with great diligence.
It ascends from Earth to Heaven and descends once more to Earth, receiving the strength of things above and below. By this means you shall possess the glory of the whole world, and through this, darkness shall flee from you.
It is the mighty force of all forces; therefore, it shall overcome all that is subtle and penetrate all that is solid. Thus was the world created.
From this shall come and derive marvellous adaptations, the method of which is here.
It is for this reason that I have been called Hermes Trismegistus, possessing the three parts of the philosophy of the whole world.
What I have said concerning the operation of the Sun is accomplished and complete.

Four plates of pasta with tomato, oil and Parmesan.
16 LiFePO4 cells, each rated at 32 ampere-hours and 3.2 volts, connected in series, totalling 51.2 volts and 32 ampere-hours. If you multiply the amperes by the volts, you get 1,638, which is the watts per hour, or 1.63 kWh, to put it simply. How much energy is that?
Well, a joule, or newton-metre, is one watt per second, so rounding it off we have 5.9e+6 joules, or 5.9 megajoules to put it simply. But how much energy is that?
Well, 5,900,000 joules correspond to 3.68049e+25 electronvolts; perhaps we could think of it as 1,409,369 small calories, or 1,409 large calories, like those in pasta. PASTA!
At last, a user-friendly unit of energy. 100 grams of pasta provides around 350 calories. This battery contains the energy equivalent of 400 grams of pasta, or about 300 grams of pasta simply dressed with extra virgin olive oil, tomato and a tiny sprinkling of grated Parmesan. It could also be turned into a margherita pizza; in that case, we’d have a battery containing 400 grams of margherita pizza – a proper pizza! I’m starting to get the picture… We need human-sized measurements now!

Planned obsolescence:
Small details.
Those lovely blue electrolytic capacitors won’t last long if the MOSFETs aren’t cooled properly! The other day, whilst climbing, the case reached 70 degrees. I realise, my Chinese friends, that aluminium is expensive, but I’ve got plenty of it! I’ve fitted two extra heat sinks and moved the controller round to the back, where the batteries used to be, so it gets plenty of airflow. In the last photo, you can see the detail of the motor shaft seal. It’s fitted at an angle, which means a bit of water can get in, and over time…
Small details that make all the difference
